Frequently asked questions about Bobbie

About Bobbie

What is Bobbie? How is it different?

Bobbie is an infant formula made in the U.S. that meets all FDA requirements and most of the EU nutritional requirements for infant formulas.

Like popular EU formulas, Bobbie is an organic infant formula that uses lactose as the source of carbohydrate, it’s easy to digest, and meets EU standards for DHA. We use premium organic ingredients sourced from reputable suppliers while prioritizing local farms, family-run businesses, and small-batch operations in the U.S. wherever possible.

What does “European-Style” mean?

Bobbie's recipe is inspired by EU nutritional requirements for infant formula. Like popular EU formulas, Bobbie uses lactose as the source of carbohydrate, is organic and non-GMO, is easy to digest, and meets EU standards for DHA.

Where is Bobbie manufactured?

Bobbie is manufactured right here in the U.S. in FDA-registered facilities in Ohio. Our manufacturer maintains world-class quality standards while also meeting USDA Organic, Kosher, Halal, and FDA quality standards.

Is Bobbie appropriate for NICU or premature babies?

Bobbie is developed for healthy term infants. Powdered infant formulas, like Bobbie, are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who are immunocompromised unless directed and supervised by the baby's health care provider.

What happened with the FDA Recall in 2019?

In 2019, the FDA issued a notice regarding our product due to a regulatory issue, and we voluntarily recalled our product while we addressed their concerns. We spent the following 14 months working closely with the FDA and brought our current formulation of Bobbie to market in January 2021 with the FDA's green light. At Bobbie, we believe our scars make us stronger. Whether from birthing a baby or a business, we are smarter and better able to serve you because of what we've been through.

Why is your formula lower in Iron than most U.S. options?

The amount of iron that Bobbie provides is slightly lower than the average U.S. infant formulas. At 1.2 mg/100kcal, Bobbie is the only U.S. infant formula that meets both EU & U.S. requirements for iron.

Why doesn’t Bobbie include bioactive ingredients like MFGM, Probiotics, or Prebiotics?

At Bobbie, we keep things simple, and that includes our recipe. Our recipe is nutritionally complete, containing only what babies need to thrive – high-quality carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals.
